Installing garage cabinets is a great way to take control of all that natural clutter build-up that dominates this “room” in most everyone’s house. Is there anything much that’s fundamentally different about this method of storage than the kind you would use, say, inside your home? The truth is that for the most part they are similar. A garage cabinet is something that every garage needs as this is one of the biggest rooms that utilize storage. Especially in function (if not design and implementation), they are doing the same thing. But I will say this: the garage requires a bit of a sturdier hardware, and I think that’s just a given. The last thing we want is all of our storage items to be on the garage floor rather than in a cabinet or shelf.

Garage storage is something that every man struggles with on a daily basis. This is our domain so to speak and its something we like to keep under control. Storage cubes are a great way to help with that issue and garage shelving also helps to get organization under control. Home organization itself is a daunting task from closet organizing to garage one thing is for sure, you need to stay on top of it from day one or you end up with a home that looks uninhabitable.Garage storage cabinets can be purchased or custom made. If you are a craftsman then making a garage storage cabinet could be a much cheaper way to get some serious storage setup in your home. A garage needs to be organized and items need to be off the ground if possible and thats exactly what a cabinet for your garage can do.

When you are in the planning stage, the first thing to consider is basically how big is your garage. Is it very deep or is it wide? Where are you going to be able to hang your garage cabinets so that they won’t be scraping your car if you are still parking it in there? It is highly important to consider these things before you just go out and buy some cabinetry. Of course, maybe you have already considered the dimensions and possible empty spaces. If so, terrific. Now we can move on to other considerations.

What are you going to store in your garage cabinets? Obviously the size and scope (and even type) of these items will play into what material you need to get. It will also effect the depth of garage shelving that you’ll need. A lot of people like to store paint cans in these cabinets. If you’re going to be putting other heavy items in there, too, then get very sturdy material. The last thing anyone wants is to walk out to their car to go to work in the morning and see that it has been turned into a green, pink, and blue monster because the paint cans fell all over it in the middle of the night! Paint is not the only thing to be store in garage storage cabinets. You also want to put things that are not used so much such as winter items or decorating and anything that is only used seasonally. Also I like to store car cleaning products like my waxes and polishes. Motorcycle parts that I would need for my bike whenever I have to replace things. Home cleaning products are great for a garage cabinet to hold. There are hosts of other uses for these cabinets and they are such a great addition to anyone's garage. I like to use a storage cube setup as well to go along with garage shelves. .

Another thing that you need to think about is who is going to do the actual installation? Of course, if you are good with tools and carpentry then you will probably want to do it yourself. If not, then think about hiring a handyman who is an expert on these types of things. If you go to your local Lowe’s or Home Depot they may even know (or have) people who can install the cabinets for you. Just be wary of a cost climbing up way too high. It’s always best to try to do your own jobs yourself. (Unless you are independently wealthy.) There are many ways to go about installing a garage cabinet yourself. Youtube has some great tips that I have provided in this video below to kind of show you how to go about starting your garage cabinet installation. In the end, you will find that your new garage cabinets really make a better use of the space than you ever could without them. Whether you do the installation yourself or not, I am sure you’ll be happy with the result. Good luck garage organizing!
